As of yesterday(17/May/2010), Joomla 1.6 Beta 1 is officially available for download!

Most importantly, this is an early beta release and you should definitely NOT use it on LIVE WEBSITES. It is available for demo, testing and finding bugs. With that said, let's have a look into what the future of the Joomla! platform has in store for us...
